Volunteer with CASA

Become a Volunteer & Help Us Build Stronger Communities for People with Disabilities

Our volunteers play a vital role in our mission to build stronger communities for people with disabilities. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work with CASA members on a one-to-one basis at all of our social events. You will be paired with a member and will spend your time with that member during each event.

This usually involves chatting and socialising with the member, as well as participating in activities like painting, bowling, and craft making.

Roles & Time Commitment

What is the Role of a CASA Volunteer?

The minimum time commitment is just four hours per month.

Attend monthly social events

At the monthly socials, volunteers will be paired up with a CASA member for the afternoon.

Attend occasional meetings

The monthly meetings are an opportunity to assess the success of the socials, to collaborate and to learn.

CASA fundraising

One To One Care

Ensuring That No One Gets Lost In The Crowd

One-to-one care is the hallmark of all CASA activities. In practice, this means that each member is paired with a volunteer for the duration of the activity.

When CASA was first set up, groups did not pair people off together. It was noticed that some members got left out or lost in the crowd. One-to-one care ensures that all members get the attention or help they need.

It is not the intention that members will only interact with the person they are paired with. It simply guarantees that everyone will be able to participate fully in the activities, with the comfort of knowing they have someone at their side should they need them.

Ongoing training and support are also provided to ensure that our volunteers feel confident and well-equipped to carry out their roles.
