CASA - Experiences

It is one of the ironies of this age that even though we have more leisure time than ever before, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find volunteers for good works. Yet there are many organisations who continue to help the disadvantaged despite a lack of personnel and a lack of funds.
One of the most effective is CASA. The Caring And Sharing Association specialises in helping people with and without disabilities to develop in a spirit of friendship. I have been lucky enough to see the good work done by CASA for more than 20 years now. I have seen wonderful volunteers give delightful social nights to people who would never get them otherwise. There is nothing extravagant in what they do. They organise nights where chats, meals, singsongs, dancing and craic dominate.
I have also experienced the more directly spiritual side of CASA, helping their members to enjoy the beauty of a few days in Lourdes. CASA also organises holidays and much need breaks throughout the year for their members.
